In the first quarter of 2009, tesa sales were down 23.8% (adjusted for exchange rate fluctuations) year on year. At current exchange rates, tesa generated sales of € 171 million.

The trend from the last quarter of the preceding year continued in the first quarter of 2009. The effects of overall economic trends were felt especially keenly in the Industry division. Sales to customers in the automotive industry were especially hard hit.

In the Consumer division, development was more positive on the whole, with growth in March up slightly year on year.

Viewed across the individual regions, all regions at tesa posted declining sales.

EBIT was € 1.2 million and tesa earned an EBIT margin of 0.7%.
